Chargerless Announces Ray, a Sun-Powered Smart Bracelet That Never Needs Charging

February 27, 2026

For Immediate Release

San Francisco, CA — February 27, 2026 — Chargerless, a wearable technology company founded in 2025 by engineer Andy Kong, today announced Ray, a sun-powered smart bracelet built to deliver continuous health tracking without the recurring chore of charging. The company expects its first production batch to ship in Fall 2026.

Fitness trackers have become ubiquitous, but for many people they still come with the same frictions: they're bulky, they clash with personal style, and they die at exactly the wrong time. Chargerless was created around a simple premise—if a wearable can collect power on its own, it can shrink the battery, keep key functionality, and remove the "plug it in" routine that causes so many people to stop wearing their devices.

A health tracker designed to disappear into daily life

Ray is designed as a minimalist bracelet that fits into everyday wear while still delivering the "metrics that matter." It is described as sleek, lightweight, and built with swappable bands for different settings and styles, while remaining fully waterproof for day-to-day life and sport.

Powered by light, indoors and out

Ray uses a solar power module that harvests energy from both indoor and outdoor light. In typical use, about one minute of direct sunlight per day can keep Ray running indefinitely—and it's designed to keep going even when light is scarce, with the company citing roughly two months of total battery life in darkness.

Core health metrics, without the noise

Ray is built to continuously track key signals including heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep stages, body temperature, steps, and light exposure, syncing to a companion smartphone app for trend views and insights.

Small hardware, serious engineering

To reach a self-powered experience, Chargerless describes an ultra-low power design approach—integrating custom sensor work with an ultra-low power processor to reduce power draw while maintaining accurate monitoring. In published specifications, Ray is listed at 33 mm × 11 mm × 6 mm and < 4 g, with a stated 5+ year battery life specification.

Privacy and ownership as defaults

Chargerless states that Ray's data is encrypted and stored locally on the user's device, giving users control to export or delete data while the company does not access personal information. The company also positions Ray around "buy once, own forever" expectations—emphasizing no recurring fees and minimal maintenance.

"Health tech shouldn't get in the way of living," the company notes in its product messaging—framing Ray as a device that works quietly in the background rather than adding another task to the day.

Availability

Chargerless expects to ship its first batch of Ray in Fall 2026, with updates available via its newsletter. On its site, the company notes shipping timing and describes both preorder/refund policies and a waitlist-style signup depending on the page.
